Introducing GpsGate Fleet. A multi-platform fleet overview app designed for mobile devices from the ground up. Streamlined map, vehicle list and plugin views let you access the information you need, fast. Available for iOS, Android and the web.
Today we are announcing the release of the newest version of our Mobile plugin, GpsGate Fleet. This release welcomes Android and iOS to the GpsGate Mobile family, with native apps designed to give your customers a responsive view of GpsGate Server on their preferred mobile device. All of the enhancements present in this version are also available for mobile web users. Updating your Mobile plugin will start your customers using the new version without removing any of their saved preferences or settings.
We have worked to make sure that no features present in the older version of the Mobile plugin have been left out of the new release. If you enjoyed a feature in the previous version, it will still be there after you upgrade.
Key New Features
A responsive design that maximises the screen space available on your device. The user interface should be easy to use and intuitive on any device, but tablets and laptops have bigger screens. If you have the space available, you want to make use of it.
New screen-based workflow that allows you to work the way you want. Tabs are gone in place of a new material design approach. If you want to keep an eye on the map, vehicle information, or dashboard statistics you can keep that screen as your focus. Switch easily between different screens with one tap.
Real time updating of vehicle positions and alerts. As soon as the server is aware of new information, it will be pushed straight to your GpsGate Fleet app. There is no longer a delay between refreshes. If your server knows something has happened, you know.
Mobile plugins are all refreshed. Dispatch and Dashboard plugins use the new interface design.
Your Dispatch workers can use GpsGate Fleet to see their jobs in a native app for their mobile device.
You can keep the mobile Dashboard running on your device to see real time information on the health of your fleet.
- In Site Admin > Plugins > My plugins section, verify you have all your plugins up to date
Navigate to your server URL on a mobile device or to http://yourgpsgateserver/m in a desktop browser to visit the mobile view.
Please note that it might take some time for the GpsGate Fleet app to appear in your country’s local App Store or Play Store.
With the app installed and loaded you will be prompted to enter the address to your server. E.g. “awesometracking.example/ggs” or “192.168.1.82”.
The app will download the latest version of GpsGate Mobile installed on your server and your user will be ready to go! Please note that the first download might take some time on slower connections. We recommend using a WiFi connection to download your first update as it may be a few megabytes in size. Updates after the initial download should be much faster.
With the app fully downloaded, you can now log in to get started!
