You can now use iPhone as a tracking client for GpsGate Server. ECOTEC Ltd. has released the YourTracks iPhone app for GpsGate Server on App Store. The app supports GpsGate VehicleTracker and BuddyTracker and has support for SOS (emergency button), speed, direction and battery level.
Install YourTracks on your iPhone
Purchase and install YourTracks from App Store ( use the App Store icon on your iPhone ). Before you get started you can have a look at the iTunes Preview
Start YourTracks and configure the following:
Hostname
Enter the hostname to your GpsGate Server installation. For example to connect to the GpsGate Server at online.gpsgate.com you enter: online.gpsgate.com
Login Details
You can identify your iPhone with a username and password or with the iPhone IMEI number.
Note: Use the identification method that suits you best, you need to enter the same information when you configure VehicleTracker in the next step.
Leave the other settings at their defaults for now, you can change them later to suit your tracking needs.
Click on Start in the YourTracks app to start tracking.
Configure your VehicleTracker application
Follow the steps below to configure your VehicleTracker application.
- Add a user to your VehicleTracker application. Remember to use the username and password you used in your iPhone if you use username and password for identification.
- Add a device with a GpsGate TrackerOne device mapper for basic functionality
Note: Advanced users can take advantage of additional YourTracks functionality by adding the YourTracks Device Mapper - Enter the IMEI number used by the YourTracks app on your iPhone in the IMEI field
Tips and more information
If you have connection issues, login to your GpsGate Server Site Administration application and use the Terminal to analyze incoming traffic.
Check reqularly for updates on App Store to keep your app updated.
