Release 2021-08-19

Vehicle status templates & ArcGIS for Google Maps

This month, we've added more functionality to our beta features, and we've also added some goodies for more advanced user cases. Vehicle status goes custom, ArcGIS map layers work with Google Maps, and device mapper scripts are more flexible.

Vehicle Status

The new Vehicle Status (beta) now offers detailed customization. We've added templates to let you choose which data displays. The quick action buttons are also available to edit. Quick actions let you go to different zoom levels with one click, share the vehicle location, draw different track date ranges, and more. You can create a custom vehicle status template for each role or job function.

Workflow to edit or create a new vehicle status template.

Different vehicle status templates make sure that each user has they data they need to do their jobs - without lots of clicking or digging. It makes workflows faster and easier.

ArcGIS Map Layers

For ESRI users, we've improved ArcGIS map layers. They are now compatible with Google Maps in addition to our native map. Private ArcGIS maps, public ArcGIS maps, Google Maps, or GpsGate's native map - you have the flexible tools to view the data you need.

ArcGIS map layers user interface

ArcGIS map layers are now integrated with the map 'peek' function (accessed with 'P' on the keyboard). This expert feature is used widely by those with lots of data on the map - whether map layers or fleet vehicles.

ArcGIS map layers are great for fleets across industries including public works (snow plowing, street repairs, etc.), mining, or those working in large secure areas like airports. You can toggle layers - and sublayers - off and on, so it's easy to adjust the view based on the current task.

Developers & Administrators

Those working on the back-end of GpsGate will appreciate a few more updates we've made with this release.

You can now select multiple outputs for a single device mapper script. Cases like a single long string of data needing to be split into many variables are a great use case. They are simpler to handle and have better performance if they are implemented with one script. Learn more about device mapper scripting and using multiple outputs.

We've also made the new Tracks the default experience for all users.
