TAIP stands for Trimble ASCII Interface Protocol. It is used in GpsGate to set up broadband routers like Cradlepoint, Motorola, Cisco, etc. that sends position data to GpsGate using TAIP or NMEA protocols. See this GpsGate support guide for more information.
