April 2022

Tweaks and bug fixes to improve the user experience make up the bulk of April's release. Site administrators benefit the most from the newest updates. Configure ArcGIS maps with API keys and easily audit system emails sent to application users.

Developer & System Administration

  • ArcGIS Maps/Layers can be configured with an optional ArcGIS API key to access premium features. See SiteAdmin > Map > ArcGI > ArcGIS API Customization.
  • ArcGIS Maps now adheres to the configured map language for your VT application.
  • ArcGIS API update to latest version, v4.23 and v3.39 (legacy).

Device Plugins

We're constantly updating device plugins and adding more supported devices. To see the updates, search for your device on our supported devices page. All individual device pages show the releases for the device manufacturer.

  • ATrack: AK7V device added tire temperature and tire pressure.
  • Meitrack: support for all EventCodes for P88L device.
  • Suntech: added ST340UR device.
  • Queclink: added GV75W, GB100MG, GL310MG, GL320MG, GV57, GV57MG, GV53MG, GV75MG, GL501MG, GL520MG, and GL53MG devices.
  • Teltonika: added FMB641, FMB910, FMB900, FMB965, FMB230, FMC230, FMM230, FMB240, FMC225, FMB225, FMB209, FMC125, MSP500, TRB245, TRB255, RUT956, RUTX09, RUTX11, RUTX12, and RUTX14 devices.
  • Ulbotech: added MGR1 for T381 device

Languages

Improved

User Experience

  • UI is more tablet touch-friendly. Windows and panels can be moved and resized.
    Custom fields table displays long values better without overlap.
  • Add auto focus to name form field when creating a new Tag, View, or Localization key. Now you don't have to select the field manually before typing.
  • Map tools that are not map fullscreen compatible will not have visible activation buttons when in fullscreen mode.
  • Optimize fullscreen map mode for use in Safari.

Reporting

  • POI Export could display non-human readable error message.

Developer & System Administration

  • Change the way email messages are sent. Make email more easily auditable.
  • Update email service components to work properly with the message queue.
  • WatchDog.Client: WatchDog performance improvements.
  • Localize Teltonika SensorTemp variable in Edit User form.
Fixed

Tracks

  • Fix bug where brackets were rendered in the Tracks panel.

Developer & System Administration

  • "User Access Mask Editor" works again.
  • French Language: fix an issue that caused vehicle list buckets filter to not display any vehicles when using French language.
  • Fix typos and improve texts in Batch Update Users > Accumulators form.
  • Redirect to log in page if an error occurs when selecting an application to log in to.
  • Fix issue where Android auto registration won't work.
  • Fix workspace in Basic One template.
  • Fix error message when saving an SMS provider in the MS SQL server.
  • Fix bug so emails sent by WatchDog.Client server are not detected as SPAM.
  • Fix issue with the event rule clone function of rules that contains POI expressions.
  • The KML Feed control's url is absolute again (includes full server URL).

User Experience

  • Vehicle Status: Fix bug where bluetooth icon won't show.
  • Null values in the vehicle list are shown as an empty string again.
  • Fix an issue when user is trying to save an SMS provider. When using the MS SQL Server, an error shows "value was too large or too small for an unsigned byte."

Reporting

  • Fix bug when the "Filter on tag" menu was duplicated after a view change.
Deprecated

Dispatch was deprecated with March's release.

Chat is deprecated. SOAP for reporting is now removed. REST API should be used.

Tracks (Legacy) was deprecated with the August 2021 release. Upon page load, the (newer) Tracks is always displayed.

As of August 17, 2021, GpsGate removed support for Internet Explorer 11. IE11 users will receive a warning in their browser. If you haven't updated your browser, we recommend it.

March 2022

GpsGate's March release includes a final Tracks tweak that power users and fleet managers will love: toggle between track points using your arrow keys. We've also brought user search administration in-app. Administrators can search for users and filter out billable units directly from an application. With each release, our goal is to help fleet managers work smarter and faster.

  • Enable stepping between track points using arrow keys.
  • The Tracks map layer can now be toggled in the map layer selector.

Developer & System Administration

  • User search is now in-app! Go to the menu in any app and navigate to Server Administration -> Users-> User Search for access.

  • Change logic for how filtered tracks are displayed on map and fix various hover issues.

Charts

  • Selecting variables has been improved by first showing the variables mapped to the selected vehicles.

User Experience

  • UI improvements.
  • Adjust colors and icons for mouse tooltip when setting position for simulated devices.
  • Add missing localization keys for password criteria text.
  • Set consistent size for all Camera plugin icons.
  • Add localized strings to camera icon titles.
  • Adjust colors for the Camera plugin's Vehicle List icon, so it’s visible for all states of both the camera plugin and the vehicle list row.

Reporting

  • Unify file handling for reporting.
  • Release the resource after processing the report.

Developer & System Administration

  • Add validation for email provider form in Server Administration -> Settings -> Email.
  • Security updates.
  • User search now allows you filter out users that are Dispatch (deprecated) units.
  • Increased time tolerance for MFA.
  • Add support for Specialized service.
Fixed

Tracks

  • Fix support for adding vehicles not in view to Tracks, Daily Summary and Charts.
  • Fix issue with data disappearing from track point list when switching panels.

Developer & System Administration

  • Do not fail on HTTP notifier when URL is empty (event rules).
  • Remove duplicate lang key.
  • Fix bug that prevented SMTP email providers from being saved.

Reporting

  • Reports with non ASCII characters in name will work again.
  • Fix for importing devices from csv files. Fix covers cases when custom "List" field was producing corrupted data after import.

Tracks get more interactive with February's release! Track replay lets you replay historical incidents on the map at the speed you choose. We've also made it easier to hover over a track and find individual track points and their details. Security minded? We've added new strong password options at the server level.

Strong Passwords

Added password criteria that can be toggled on/off for the server in Server Administration -> Settings -> Security. These criteria will replace the "Strong Password" setting that was previously found on applications. This includes:

  • Minimum password length 8 characters (mandatory for new passwords)
  • Require lowercase (optional, enabled by default)
  • Require uppercase (optional, enabled by default)
  • Require number (optional, enabled by default)
  • Require special character (optional, enabled by default)

Tracks

  • Improve performance in the tracks panel when drawing larger tracks.
  • Support adding vehicles not in view to Tracks, Daily Summary, and Chart.
  • Move map track point drawing code to its own service. Reduces the loading time when opening a track point tooltip.
  • Clicking on a track point in the Tracks panel will update trackPoint object in the Script Editor.

User Experience

  • Double clicking a window header now toggles maximized and normal mode (as Microsoft Windows & macOS).
  • Set consistent size for all icons in the Vehicle List and both Notifier Icons.
  • Change icon used by the Panel Menu to FA5 bars.
  • Use SVG icons: add regular weight for minus and plus FA5 icons.
  • Unify behavior and styling for Panel Menu Button and the rest of the window control buttons. Use same structure in both DOM and CSS.
  • Set window bar height to 32px to match pixel grid used in the rest of the UI.
  • Convert window bar layout to flexbox for easier and robust alignment.
  • Update layout and responsive behavior of the Toolbar component to simplify layout and future development.
  • Create variables for semi-transparent greytones #6798.
  • Legacy Tracks: localize hover text on export and drawing options arrow down button.

Developer & System Administration

  • Add more server Cleanup interval options to the UI in Server Administration -> Settings -> Cleanup.
  • Improved logging for HttpExpression failures.
  • Make batch update accumulators work with units specified in the application settings e.g. if before accumulator values showed in meters, they should now be in kilometers or miles (depending on the application settings).
Fixed

User Experience

  • Fix Dashboard and Dispatch not displaying items in Edit windows.
  • Fix a bug that causes Dashboard panel and Dispatch Add Job window to crash.
  • Fix: If using a white theme color, the window's close and maximize buttons could become invisible... not any more!

POI

  • Fixes to POI panel layout which was causing content overflow in narrow column widths.

Driver's Journal (Deprecated)

  • Cleanup scheduled tasks for deprecated Drivers Journal plugin.

Developer & System Administration

  • Fix WFS Geocoder compatibility.
  • Fix a rare case of failing to load the license page in server administration settings.
  • Events exporting: fix the case when a date part of an export file name might be different from a selected start date.
  • Events exporting: fix the case when exported events might be different form those are displayed on UI.
  • Remove strong password setting from Basic one template.
  • Remove some forgotten old Strong Password usage.
  • Batch update users: Improve the UI with an example telling what units are expected. Fix an error message displaying. Make errors show correct info.

SMS Providers

  • Add missing Listener URL form field for Twilio SMS provider.
  • Fix sending a test SMS for a case when an SMS provider has application tags selected.

January 2022

The Daily Summary gets some great new features with this release. We've added bounding boxes on the map: as you scroll over a vehicle, you see a box on the map enclosing its tracks for your selected time. For larger fleets, this lets you quickly view general track locations without loading lots of data - it's snappy and fast. You can also add a route geofence directly from the Daily Summary. Vehicle Status and Charts received some new additions for a great user experience.

  • Update the chip component for better "responsive" behavior, like great resizing.
  • Update the header background color for the Device Simulator panel- it now matches the rest of the UI.
  • Update the Tooltip component so that animations follow the direction the tooltip is pointing.

  • Fix exporting issue that in some cases exported the wrong time span.
  • Avoid triggering actions when dismissing the Daily Summary map context menu.
  • Fix issue with the tracks vehicle context menu not setting predefined date intervals in the correct time zone.

  • Fix highlight (background color) on the selected item in the vehicle list.

Tracks now features a great data overview plus a way to drill down to the data you need. The Daily Summary panel provides a bird's eye view of historical fleet data over longer periods. The track filters let you narrow down the data to see exactly what you need.

Tracks

  • Introducing the Tracks Daily Summary panel! You can quickly get a brief overview of historical fleet data over larger time spans. The Tracks panel now handles multiple time spans to support selecting multiple tracks from different days and vehicles in a daily summary and viewing them in the Tracks panel.
  • Tracks can now be filtered! We added a track filter window for filtering track point data. It also filters the data in the Timeline view.
  • Tracks time info is more detailed. The track point table now shows seconds when viewing times.
  • Add support for opening trips with multiple, separate timespans in Charts from Daily Summary.
  • Print detailed short time formats in tooltips.
  • When inspecting a track point on the map, the tooltip now shows all available signal values.

Developer & System Administration

  • Add SFTP support in the timer click script with username/password authentication. Note: we support username-password authentication. Host-based authentication is NOT supported.
  • Add REST API to update basic properties of an application such as Name, Description, License limit, Localization, and more.
  • Add REST API methods to check status and cancel a sent command.
  • Add a privilege that controls the ability to Export POIs. (_ExportLocation).
  • Indoor Positioning System moved to Server Administration -> Devices -> Indoor Positioning System. The menu item background color is now blue as the other options.
